TSB textile

TSB Textile is a creative arts studio, gallery and shop that showcases fine sculpture and textile art. TSB textile is the creative outlet of Teresa Bennett, textile artist. “My textile practice has been developed from a keen interest in knitting, then with further studies, to viewing textiles as a sculptural art form. In my final year studying Studio Textiles, all my worked developed into on-off wall-hangings and sculpture. My end of year exhibition was very successful and encouraged me to further extend myself in this direction, culminating in winning the 2005 Old England Outdoor Sculpture Award with my piece ‘Woven Memories’, which hung in the Remembrance Garden at the Repatriation hospital. I want to show textiles in a non-traditional way, highlighting both skills and aesthetics, to create forms that make people look at things differently. My work cannot be done by machine as it develops its own life as it is created, show-casing the unique and beautiful nature of the hand-made. I continue to experiment with the materials and techniques associated with the world of textiles. My current work explores the world of nests and homes, reusing and recycling materials, and my own part in, literally, building a house. I have knit nylon wire, crocheted video tape and spun paper to create my various ‘abodes’. “ Renew Australia and the Greensborough Chamber of Commerce have come together to run ‘Greensborough Comes Alive’ which will activate some of the currently underutilised and vacant spaces within the Greensborough Centre. TSB textile, excitedly, at 77 Grimshaw St.,is now part of the “Renew” creative movement. Along with ‘Make your Mark’ and ‘Common Thread’ we hope to start a creative renewal in Greensborough.
