The Three Monkeys

“The Three Monkeys is an iconic West End gem. The theme runs along the lines of Mediterranean and Greek meets the East, but it is truly an atmosphere that defies description and is best experienced first hand. It is no wonder the Three Monkeys is a hit with students, locals and tourists alike as it offers a great little getaway from the troubles of the outside world and caters for a variety of tastes. The chai at Three Monkeys is second to none and is a good starting point as you ponder the variety of light meals and cakes available.” - Ben Upton Opened in 1990, this Brisbane icon was originally started to serve the students living in the three houses above. As it's popularity grew so did the premises. In 1995 The Three Monkeys changed hands and major expansion took place, moving into the courtyard and across into adjoining rooms. Before the South Bank revolutions, The Three Monkeys was “the place to be” after a show at the Performing Arts Centre, often staying open past 2am to accommodate the performers. Autographed posters line the walls, from artists, to actors and athletes as a testament to it's popularity. “Decorated with an eclectic collection of international memorabilia, cosy couches and booths to hide in, The Three Monkeys offers casual, international fare in surroundings voted "the most atmospheric in Brisbane". Meander through the maze of themed rooms and out the back is a large courtyard and oriental garden where you can help yourself to a collection of board games as you while away the hours with cake and coffee.” – Your Restaurants Guide
