Sebamed Australia

HISTORY It was back In the 1950’s when young Dr. Maurer learned that the surface of the skin has a protective layer called the “acid mantle“; the layer that protects us from outside influences such us pollutants, bacteria UV rays, etc. While treating patients with skin diseases such as eczema, he observed that soap stripped away this protective layer. In fact, before sebamed® was commercialised, it was common practice not to bathe eczema patients with ordinary soap and water so as not to exacerbate their irritated skin condition. The acid mantle has a slightly acidic pH value of 5.5. As such, Dr. Maurer developed the first commercial soap-free cleansing bar adjusted to pH5.5. This physiological alkali-free cleanser was found to be beneficial by not distressing normal or eczema skin. With over 40 years of commercialisation, sebamed® products have gained a loyal following from consumers with normal and problem skins alike - having been introduced in more than 80 countries worldwide. sebamed® is the only medicinal skin care brand that offers consumers a comprehensive range of products adjusted to pH5.5 that takes care of all the skin conditions from early infancy and beyond to all ages.
