NT Writers' Centre

We are here to support you in your writing journey – whatever that may be. We’re committed to helping writers of all persuasions work on their craft: poets, songwriters, short story writers, novelists, graphic novelists, playwrights, screenwriters, journalists, reviewers, copywriters, bloggers, business, technical and academic writers, and ESL writers. We want to help you get started, improve your writing, get published, raise your profile and/or make your work more accessible through workshops, events, readings, book sales, competitions, awards and programs, such as ‘Meet the Publisher’ and ‘Artists in Schools’. In this fantastically liberating digital age, we want to network, share experiences and upskill writers so that everyone is up to speed with the huge amount of e-opportunities out there! For geographically isolated writers in particular, the Internet offers exciting opportunities to connect, share and sell. We run our own events, workshops and awards (NT Literary Awards and Territory Read) and pass on relevant information and opportunities from other organisations. We can help you apply for grants, but we don’t offer any of our own. Each year we run a truly inspirational writers’ festival. In 2013 Eye of the Storm was held in Alice Springs, in 2014 WordStorm will be held in Darwin (May 29 to June 1) featuring emerging and established NT, Indigenous and Australasian writers.
