National Pharmacies is the trading name of the Friendly Society Medical Association Limited. We are a mutual organisation where profits made through our operations are returned to our members in the form of benefits and discounts. Founded in 1911 to give Friendly Society members special benefits on pharmaceutical and health purchases, National Pharmacies continues to serve its members. Today there are 35 pharmacies in South Australia, 18 in Victoria, 1 in New South Wales, and 1 in Western Australia, plus 18 optical stores in South Australia and 4 in Victoria. Although a lot has changed over the past century, National Pharmacies continues to provide extra value to its members with more locations, extended trading hours, larger product ranges, added services, and superior customer service. In 2011 alone, National Pharmacies paid over $29 million in benefits to its members.
