When your Pet first goes missing, please do the following. * Post your LOST pet notice including photo and detailed information on our wall. Even better if you can create a video, upload it to Youtube and share on our wall <3 Please include if your pet is wearing a collar (describe the collar), microchipped (or not), desexed or intact and any distinguishing personality features or markings. * WHEN SEARCHING LOST AND FOUND NOTICES --> A recent lost dog, a "Jack Russell/Fox Terrier cross" was matched to a found notice for a "Chihuahua" (luckily there was a photo). Follow up notices that are *similar* to your dog, and also to go to the pound IN PERSON in case breed is recorded differently there. Some notices may describe a found dog only by "small, medium, large", rather than a breed. * Make sure their Registration and Microchip information is up to date - All cats and dogs on the Gold Coast must be registered ! It's VERY important to ensure the microchip details are up2date. If no microchip, I would strongly advise that you put this at the top of your TO DO list when the pet is returned to you. ✽✽✽ Register / Update Your Microchip Details ✽✽✽ -- National Pet Register ( www.petregister.com.au ) PH 1300 734 738 -- Australasian Animal Registry ( www.aar.org.au ) PH 02-9704 1450 -- Central Animal Registry ( www.car.com.au ) PH 03-9706 3187 * Notify ALL Vets in your surrounding area, call the Gold Coast Pound (Phone: 07 5581 7600 or after hours 1800 637 000), RSPCA, Animal Welfare League of Queensland and the GCCC Waste Management (Phone:07 55816799) * If you have FOUND a dog or cat which you are unable to transport to the nearest vet or the pound please contact Gold Coast Animal Ambulance 0400 484 484 for pet taxi assistance to transport the "found" pet. * Try to VISIT IN PERSON with a recent photograph of your missing pet all the local vets and The Pound if possible. A busy vet clinic may not realise they have your cat whereas The Pound has been known to make mistakes in their description of found pets. * If you have a missing cat, check high and low and everywhere in between. Cats can get themselves into some seriously high and/or tight spots. Bang on car bonnets in case the cat is napping in the warm engine (naturally seek permission first if possible). * If you have a MISSING CAT contact Barbara from Wildcats (PHONE: 07 5594 3333 or http://www.wildcatsqld.com ). Please I also suggest posting your lost cat notice on her Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/WildCatsOrg * Notify the Animal Emergency Service (104 Eastlake Street, Carrara) Ph: 07 5559 1599, Animal Emergency Centre (Unit 4, 492 Scottsdale Drive, Varsity Lakes) Ph: 07 5593 4544 and GCARE (Unit 4, 75 Casua Drive, Varsity Lakes) Ph: 07 5593 4544 ... Try to find other online classified sites where your pet possibly could be listed found or for sale. * If your pet is NOT microchipped, please check all the local shelters and rescues as your pet (if it has passed a temperament test) may possibly be out on foster until a new home can be found for it. This is a vitally important reason to make sure you microchip your pets because shelters/rescues will only re-home if there is no microchip and/or the details are out-of-date (especially phone numbers are disconnected). * Contact 4CRB 89.3FM (the only local radio station that still does lost/found pet notices) http://www.4crb.com | Phone: 07 5520 8888 Email: mail@4crb.com -- Unfortunately none of the major local radio stations are prepared to air lost/found pet notices. * PLACE A LOST OR FOUND PET NOTICE IN THE NEWSPAPER -- http://www.goldcoast.com.au/classifieds/gold-coast.html Lost Pets Support Group for Pet Parents --> https://www.facebook.com/groups/LPRinaussupportgroup/ Offering practical support and personal guidance for those who have lost a pet. ★ REMEMBER ★ NEVER give up looking for your pet, they want you to find them ! :-) NO MICROCHIP ? MICROCHIP NOT WORKING ? Contact Gold Coast Mobile Microchipping .... to make a booking send an email to goldcoastmobilemicrochipping@skymesh.com.au or call them 0425265165 ♥ All Domestic Animals should be taken to the nearest Vet or the Gold Coast Pound (which is located in Coombabah next door to the Animal Welfare League) or call the Animal Ambulance 0400 484 484 if you cannot transport the pet. If you have found a injured animal, PLEASE seek medical help, DO NOT JUST LEAVE IT !!! Call Animal Ambulance 0400 484 484 IMMEDIATELY !!
